  14. I guess you can try entering: ATA, in any communications software while
  15. your modem is connected and talking to you computer.  The modem should
  16. start answering and try to handshake/negotiate.  If you don't hear that,
  17. it's very likely a hardware problem.  Otherwise, check your FAX settings in
  18. both MS FAX and WinFAX 7.  BTW, does it answer data call?  Good luck...
